The Sanctuary de Lluc Foundation has received support from the “la Caixa” Foundation and CaixaBank for its project to eliminate architectural barriers in part of the Sanctuary Naturalist Garden to make it accessible to people with special mobility needs. to visit it. To this end, the entity will receive a financial contribution of 17,500 euros from the “la Caixa” Foundation, through CaixaBank, which is part of a global aid plan of 35,000 euros in the sanctuary, and which will also go to the ‘Aula Natura’, a new space for environmental awareness and awareness aimed at children, young people and users of social entities that will replace the old greenhouse in the garden that was almost destroyed by a storm. Mariano Gastalver, secretary of the Sanctuary de Lluc Foundation, and María Cruz Rivera, territorial director of CaixaBank in the Balearic Islands, have expressed their satisfaction with the signing of the agreement.
For Mariano Gastalver Martín, this collaboration represents “a great help from CaixaBank that reinforces and values a project that is committed to accessibility”. “Lluc wants to be a place with all its variants: spiritual, ecological and cultural”, he stressed. For her part, María Cruz Rivera highlighted “the importance of solidarity and collaboration between the different entities and institutions to protect people in vulnerable situations”.
In 2020, 89% of the bank’s offices supported some social project. In this way, last year more than 8,500 projects belonging to 7,000 social entities throughout the country were helped. These are, for the most part, projects that provide solutions in the field of disease, disability, social exclusion, child poverty, the elderly and aging. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, the “la Caixa” Foundation has collaborated, through CaixaBank, with 1,700 projects related to the supply of food, medical supplies and emergencies to respond to the vulnerable people most affected by the pandemic.
