Sa Rua 2026 in Palma will once again turn the city centre into a huge festive stage bursting with colour, music and creativity. The traditional Carnival parade will take place on Sunday 15 February, starting from 17:00, following the main streets of Palma’s historic and commercial centre, with floats and troupes as the stars of the day.

The event is organised by the Ajuntament de Palma, which has already published the rules for the Floats and Troupes Competition and the participation requirements for this year’s edition. The jury will be positioned in Plaça del Mercat, where they will assess all participants during the parade. The day will end with a concert and the prize-giving ceremony in Plaça del Rei Joan Carles I, rounding off one of Mallorca’s most eagerly awaited Carnival celebrations.

Floats and troupes competition

To encourage maximum participation, the Ajuntament de Palma has once again announced a floats and troupes competition with a total prize fund of €2,800. The registration period to take part opens today, Monday 2 February, and will remain open until 12 February 2026, inclusive. Applications may be submitted in either the float or troupe category.

Registration must be completed in person, Monday to Friday, between 9:00 and 14:00, at the Citizen Participation Department, located at Plaça de Santa Eulàlia, number 9 (3rd floor). Prizes for Sa Rua 2026 in Palma

The competition will award a total of €2,800 in prizes, distributed across eight categories, shared by floats and troupes:

  • Most elaborate.

  • Most socially engaged.

  • Most original.

  • Most lively.

In the float category, four prizes of €450 each will be awarded, while in the troupe category, four prizes of €250 each will be awarded. Each entry may only compete in one prize category.

Floats: maximum dimensions and rules

The floats must strictly comply with the maximum dimensions set out in the competition rules:

  • Maximum length: 16 metres.

  • Maximum width: 2.50 metres.

  • Maximum height: 4 metres.

With this new edition, Sa Rua 2026 in Palma reaffirms its place as one of Mallorca’s major Carnival events, turning the city centre into a huge open-air celebration.
