The Marivent Palace yesterday witnessed a historic reception by the King and Queen of Spain. This year the Royal Family decided to hold the official reception for the authorities of the Balearic Islands and a representation of Balearic society at their summer residence in Mallorca. During their arrival at Marivent Palace, the King and Queen, accompanied by Queen Sofia, were received by the President of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol; the President of the Parliament of the Balearic Islands, Vicenç de Paül Thomàs; the Government Delegate in the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands, Aina Calvo; the Mayor of Palma, José Hila; and the Commander General of the Balearic Islands, Fernando Luis Gracia; among other authorities.
After the institutional greetings, King Felipe and Queen Leticia, together with Queen Sofía, went to the esplanade of the Marivent Palace, where the reception was held. The evening was attended by some 400 people. Among them were leading representatives of Balearic society. Businessmen, trade union leaders, hoteliers, consuls, designers, cultural personalities and politicians were received by the King and Queen on a warm summer night, when the Marivent Palace opened its doors for the first time for a reception of this kind.
The attendees were able to greet the King and Queen and enjoy a great cocktail by the famous Mallorcan Michelin star chef, Santi Taura, served on the main esplanade of the Marivent Palace.
