Route of the new train to Llucmajor

The Llucmajor train project, which is expected to benefit 7.5 million users annually, will begin its processing this October. The route will connect Palma with several key points, such as Son Llàtzer Hospital, the future Palma fairground, Son Sant Joan Airport, and a park-and-ride facility in Son Oms.

Plan for public transport in the Balearic Islands

Additionally, Prohens emphasised that this is just the start of an ambitious plan for public transport in the Balearic Islands, reaffirming that her government will not abandon other key projects. She also highlighted that, while negotiating road agreements with the State, funds will be transferred to the island councils for projects such as the second Palma ring road, the Menorca main road, and the redevelopment of the E-10 in Ibiza.

Increase in spending cap

The President of the Govern de les Illes Balears also announced a €200 million increase in the spending cap for the community’s 2025 budget. An increase that will be possible “thanks to the dynamism and strong growth rate of our economy.”
