PortsIB has initiated the proceedings for the execution of the improvement project for the port of Pollença. This initiative includes the heightening of quays and pier piles, the repair of underpinnings, and the replacement of pier plates. With a total allocated budget of 2,084,754.52 euros, including VAT, the funding will come from the Ports of the Balearic Islands budget.

The project arises from the urgent need to repair the current underpinnings and deficiencies in the quays and piers of the port of Pollença, which present risks of collapse. Additionally, the structures will be heightened to comply with the General Plan of Ports and adapt to climate change.

18-month timeframe for the improvement of the port of Pollença

The contract will be executed over a period of 18 months, with a summer break scheduled from 1 May to 31 October 2025, to ensure the optimal functioning of the port during the peak season.

The budget breakdown is as follows: 1,731,499.53 euros excluding VAT, of which 1,637,318.59 euros correspond to the tender budget and 94,180.94 euros to waste management. The annual allocations are distributed as follows: in 2024, 245,850.00 euros (including VAT); in 2025, 1,405,800.00 euros (including VAT); and in 2026, 433,104.52 euros (including VAT).

With this initiative, Ports of the Balearic Islands not only aims to improve the port infrastructure of Pollença but also to ensure the safety, functionality, and durability of the facilities, adapting them to the needs of climate change and ensuring their integration with the environment.
