Porto Pi, Mallorca’s first shopping center, commemorates its 30th anniversary with a retrospective exhibition that spans three decades of shared history between the center and the island. The exhibition, inaugurated by the Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez, will be open to the public until November 15 on the ground floor of the shopping center, in front of Müller.
The Beginnings of Porto Pi
The exhibition combines photographs, murals, interactive installations, and a giant cube projecting the origins of Porto Pi in a rapidly developing Palma. A three-meter-high structure, covered with images from the center’s 30-year history and a pre-construction report, allows visitors to immerse themselves in Porto Pi’s visual history.
Among the highlights are iconic black-and-white photographs from the center’s early years and a 30th-anniversary commemorative video, subtitled and available in Spanish and English. The interactive mural shaped like a “30,” made up of Polaroids of employees and the management team, allows visitors to become part of the installation, turning the exhibition into a participatory and lively experience.
Additionally, the “Shared Memory” section features photos, videos, and testimonials submitted by customers and Mallorca residents, reflecting how Porto Pi has accompanied several generations in their daily lives. The inauguration also included special activities, such as disposable cameras given to guests so they could continue creating memories during the event.
“For three decades, Porto Pi has been a place where stories and unforgettable moments have been created for residents and visitors alike. This exhibition is a tribute to all those people and their shared experiences,” said Ana López, Director of Porto Pi.
The 30th-anniversary exhibition of Porto Pi is a must-visit for anyone wishing to relive the history of the center and of Mallorca, combining tradition, design, and experiences that have shaped the city’s collective memory.
