Elena Ordinas.

As a mother, there is nothing that makes me more excited than receiving a call from my children. Listening to them, feeling that they have something to share with me… Calling is a gesture that creates bonds, but humanity seems destined to lose them. I am aware – and in favour – that we have to keep up with technology, but I find it hard to accept how much we are becoming robotised: we now congratulate birthdays on Facebook, catch up on WhatsApp and contact is limited to fingertips on the phone screen. I refuse.

I embrace the advances, the usefulness of all these tools for work and daily life, of course I do. But affection, contact, surprise and closeness are above all this. Calling – or video-calling – is much more human than writing a message, a greater sign of affection and I believe it should not disappear. Too many missed calls.
