The Mallorcan artist Miquel Barceló is currently exhibiting his works in Paris. He is doing it twice, with the still life “Grisaille à l’espadon” at the Louvre and with a series of “Grisaille” in a private gallery in the French capital. Barceló uses a traditional 14th century technique in which he applies translucent layers of colour that give his creations an air of mystery. In addition, the artist told Rtve, he has used frozen ashes, which connect with the sea and the Mallorcan countryside.
In the group exhibition exploring the world of still life at the Louvre, entitled “Les choses”, his work “is in contact with Flemish and Spanish painting”, he declared. It will be on view until 23 January 2023.
His next work will be a giant ceramic that can be seen and felt in the vicinity of a château in the Loire area next spring.
