Mallorca, through the Mallorca Film Commission, will attend and play an important role in the Berlin TVSeries Fest. The island will act as a special guest from September 23 to 26, with talks, premieres and various events. The Berlin TVSeries Fest is a prestigious festival and audiovisual market, focused on series and television, which is open to professionals in audiovisual production, screenwriting, directing and acting, but also to technical personnel and film commissions. All these agents have the opportunity to show finished products, but also to attract and close new projects.
“Mallorca is currently very attractive for filming television series, not only for feature films as had been more common, and at the same time series are central products on audiovisual platforms. That is why we believe that we have to be at this festival, which brings together these platforms, in a year in which the island has hosted the recording of three German series”, explained the Minister of Tourism and Esports, Andreu Serra. In fact, “we have been invited, and we will take the opportunity for our sector to network and for us, as an institution, to promote the island as a film set.”
Series filming in Mallorca
As a special guest, the Mallorca Film Commission will present the island as a set for the filming of series, through two practical cases of recent international products: König von Palma and The Mallorca Files. There will also be a task of external projection and promotion of Mallorca as a filming destination, and will talk about how the so-called “film tourism” can help change tourism models.
In addition to all that, an event will be organized on Thursday 23 at the Spanish embassy in Berlin. This will try to put in contact the Mallorcan delegation that will travel to Berlin (made up of producers and creators from some of the island’s series production companies and professionals) with prestigious international producers, distributors and exhibitors. This event will feature a simple gastronomic show and musical performance in the hands of Tomeu Arbona (pastry chef in Forn de sa Soca) and his team.
