“Get closer to the sea and start your adventure” is the slogan under which the Government of the Balearic Islands has presented the Blue Week 2025Setmana Blava 2025, a free activities programme that will take place from 5th to 9th May with the participation of 26 yacht clubs and marinas across the archipelago. This initiative, aimed at Year 5 and 6 primary school students, seeks to promote the practice of water sports such as sailing, canoeing, and paddle surfing, while raising environmental awareness among young people.

This programme has been launched by several government departments in collaboration with the Balearic Sailing Federation and the Balearic Canoeing Federation. The sessions will combine theory and practice and will run from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The theoretical part will include talks on basic navigation concepts, maritime safety regulations, and the issue of plastic pollution in marine ecosystems. Additionally, workshops will be held where students will learn how to tie marine knots and repurpose recycled materials to create useful objects. The practical sessions will introduce participants to water sports such as sailing, canoeing, and paddle surfing, teaching them the basic techniques and the importance of safety at sea, as well as the need to preserve marine resources.
