The Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest 2025 (AMFF) came to a close this Sunday with an open-air ceremony at La Misericordia Cultural Center, presided over by Queen Letizia. The event reaffirmed the festival’s status as the most important hybrid film festival in the world, with over 1,200,000 viewers across its physical program in Mallorca and its online screenings via the Filmin platform.
Upon her arrival, Queen Letizia was welcomed by top Balearic authorities, including the President of the Government, Margalida Prohens; Minister Elma Saíz; Mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez; and the festival’s director, Jaume Ripoll. During the ceremony, the Queen also greeted leading cultural figures such as composer Alberto Iglesias, actress María Valverde, and conductor Gustavo Dudamel.

The official closing concluded with the Spanish premiere of the film El canto de las manos, introduced by its director María Valverde and producer Gustavo Dudamel, marking the grand finale of a vibrant and talent-filled edition.

Atlàntida, an international benchmark from Mallorca
Founded 15 years ago as the first online film festival in Spain, the Atlàntida Film Fest was created to showcase international films that had no place in commercial theaters. After conquering the online space, the festival expanded to Mallorca, blending physical and digital formats to become a global reference in the hybrid model.
Over the years, the AMFF has hosted renowned names such as Liv Ullmann, Michael Douglas, Judi Dench, J.A. Bayona, and Ken Loach, along with leading national directors. This year, the festival surpassed 1.2 million viewers between its week of screenings in Mallorca and the month-long program on Filmin.
Not surprisingly, Atlàntida has been named the Best Festival in the Balearic Islands by the Observatory of Culture, cementing Mallorca’s status as a cultural hub and key player on the European film scene.
