Jazz Voyeur Festival 2022 Mallorca: Programme

The best jazz returns to Mallorca in November with the Jazz Voyeur Festival 2022. The Mallorca jazz festival, now in its 15th year, will be held from 4 November to 7 December. With top jazz artists – in previous years it has featured Ron Carter, Bebo Valdés and María del Mar Bonet – the festival will kick off its programme with Carmen Linares, winner of the 2022 Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts.

On 4 November, the artist will offer a concert full of flamenco, Andalusian folklore and poetry that promises to captivate the audience. A review of four decades of the career of one of the living legends of flamenco. Linares will be accompanied by María del Mar Bonet as guest artist and Saxoleá. It will take place at the Trui Teatre (Camí de Son Rapinya, 29).

Programme of the Jazz Voyeur Festival 2022

The programme of the 15th Jazz Voyeur Festival will continue on 10th November with Bill Evans, Niels Lan Doky, Darryl Jones and Harvey Mason: Jazz/Takes Supergroup. They will be accompanied by the Big Band of the Conservatori Superior de les Illes Balears. The Jazz/Takes Supergroup is made up of some of the biggest names in international jazz. The four renowned musicians are premiering a new project in which they will perform both their own compositions and emblematic songs from different genres through jazz. The audience will be able to enjoy songs from the ‘Grunge’ nineties (Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Nirvana), the ‘Disco’ seventies (Chic, Abba, Sister Sledge) and the ‘Hip Hop’ nineties (Nariz, Notorius B.I.G., A Tribe Called Quest), among others. At the Conservatori Superior de Musica (Carrer d’Alfons el Magnànim, 64).

Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Chano Domínguez will merge on stage at the Trui Teatre jazz festival on 17th November. They will be accompanied by the Antón Cortés Trio. They promise a pioneering blend of two different musical languages (one with Cuban roots and the other more rooted in flamenco and jazz).

The Jazz Voyeur Festival 2022 will close on the 7th of December at Trui Teatre with Amazing Grace – A gospel celebration to Aretha Franklin & Black Heritage Choir. A concert commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of one of the most important LPs in the history of Afro-American music. The recital will feature all the songs from the original LP, as well as other hits by Aretha Franklin. The members of the Mallorca Gospel Choir will perform.
