The General Directorate of Emergencies has deactivated level IG1 of the Meteobal Special Plan following the recent episode of heavy rainfall caused by a cold drop (DANA) in the Balearic archipelago. The storm resulted in a total of 47 incidents across the islands, mostly involving minor flooding in basements and the fall of branches and stones.
In Mallorca, where 38 incidents were recorded, Manacor was particularly affected. Heavy rainfall caused the Es Domingos Gran stream to overflow, which led to the temporary closure of a section of the road between Cala Murada and Porto Cristo for approximately 30 minutes due to water accumulation. Additionally, three other roads in the area were partially closed: MA-4100, MA-4020, and MA-4015, although traffic has since resumed on all of them.
In Ibiza, 9 incidents were reported, with some minor water pooling in the Platja d’en Bossa area, though without major complications.
This episode of rain and storms, which began on 12 November with the activation of IG1 in the Meteobal Plan, saw maximum rainfall accumulations of 63 mm in the Serra de Tramuntana and 53 mm in Vila.
Finally, the General Directorate of Emergencies and the 112 Emergency Services thank the public for their responsible behaviour and remind everyone of the importance of consulting official sources during adverse weather events.
