These grants launched by the City Council through PalmaActiva are aimed at freelancers, micro and small businesses and can be applied for in mid-September. Its objective is to promote permanent employment in Palma

PalmaActiva will soon launch new aids that will grant up to 6,000 euros to self-employed individuals and small businesses that hire unemployed people, thus promoting permanent hiring. The initiative has a total budget of 300,000 euros.

Lupe Ferrer, Councilor for Economy and Commerce, has announced today at a press conference all the details of this call, explaining that these grants are funded by the City Council of Palma as part of the Strategic Plan of subsidies PalmaActiva 2023.

The subsidized indefinite-term contracting will be that of unemployed people, both full-time and part-time, provided that the part-time working day is equal to or greater than 50% of the working day foreseen in the sectorial agreement and if not available, equal to or greater than 20 hours per week, and for initial contracts formalized in the period between January 1, 2023 and March 15, 2023, both included. The jobs must be maintained for at least 6 months.

Characteristics of the aid for permanent employment

The eligible contracts are the following:

  • Full time – 5.000 € (100%)
  • Part-time (from 50 to 99%) – 3.000 € (minimum 6 months)
  • Specific groups (100% working day) – 1.000 €.
  • Specific groups (50 to 99% working day) – 500 €.

Applications may be submitted from the day after the publication of the grants in the Official Bulletin of the Balearic Islands (BOIB). This publication is scheduled for mid-September and will have a duration of 30 calendar days, counting from the day following its publication. The presentation will be made electronically.
