The event will feature 9,000 companies, 152 countries and 806 exhibitors
The International Tourism Trade Fair (Fitur) to be held in Madrid from 24 to 28 January is expected to break records in terms of participants and attendees. Organised by Ifema Madrid, the 44th edition of Fitur, which inaugurates the international calendar of important meetings in the sector, expects to bring together a total of 9,000 participating companies (500 more than in 2023), 152 countries (20 more) and 806 exhibitors (7% more than the previous year), which will display their offer in 9 pavilions (one more than in the last edition).
The organisers point to excellent figures in terms of attendance due to “the good response from the sector”. They estimate 150,000 professionals from Wednesday to Friday and 100,000 visitors from the general public during the weekend. All these figures will translate into a significant economic injection for Madrid, which is expected to receive 430 million euros that will have a direct impact on sectors such as transport, hotels, restaurants, commerce, leisure and culture.
The new edition of Fitur will reflect the growth experienced in recent months by the national and international tourism industry and will lay the foundations for the consolidation of the sector during 2024. All areas of the fair will grow both in terms of surface area and exhibitors, and sustainability and innovation will play a leading role. This year, the number of technology companies will grow by 23% to around one hundred.
Ecuador, Fitur 2024 Partner Country
Among the new features of 2024 is the special participation of Ecuador as a Fitur Partner Country, which will make a major display at the fair, as well as the presence of sustainability as a transversal axis of the entire tourism offer and the sections of the fair.
