The traditional Fira d’Algaida is back for another year to delight visitors with local and artisan products, as well as numerous cultural initiatives. The event will take place on 15th October in the town square and adjacent streets, although numerous activities are scheduled from 8th October onwards.
The Fira d’Algaida will feature several exhibitions: fair trade and cooperation initiatives, Mallorcan and Menorcan horses, and antique cars and vehicles, among others. There will also be a herding competition at 9 a.m. to raise awareness of the importance of the use of dogs in the livestock sector.
Two exhibitions will be inaugurated at 10 a.m.: “Lligats a Nicaragua”, which explains the characteristics of this country and the municipalities twinned with Mallorca, and “Drap mallorquí”, by Xisco Dopico, which will include a sample of Mallorcan dance. One hour later the Castellers de Mallorca will perform in the Placeta des Sitjar, and at the same time, from 11 am to 1 pm the municipal radio station Titoieta Ràdio will broadcast a live radio programme.
The scheduled events also include two workshops on sweets and decorating with autumn flowers (from 11 am to 1 pm) and fun activities for children (from 11:30 am to 1 pm), with circus games and games of skill. Pedro Adrover and Àlex Artigues will be in charge of livening up the day with a musical performance between 12 and 14 h.
