Montuïri is getting ready to celebrate the Festes de Sant Bartomeu 2024 with a calendar full of events and activities that stand out for their dynamism and enthusiasm. From the 1st of August until the 15th of September, the town in Pla de Mallorca dresses up to pay homage to its patron saint with a series of celebrations that reflect the soul and spirit of the local community.

These festivities stand out for the Ball dels Cossiers, recognised in 2012 with the Ramon Llull Award for its faithfulness to the spirit of the celebration, being the only group on the island that has remained uninterrupted throughout its history. This traditional dance includes six dancers with coloured ribbons and bunches of basil, accompanied by a Dama and the Dimoni. The Cossiers will display all their colour on the 15th and 23rd of August, when they parade through the streets adorned with pine branches and coloured papers, performing their ritual for two hours. In the Plaza Mayor, the Dimoni puts on a show for the public, followed by a concert by the Montuïri Music Band, fireworks and a musical party that goes on until the early hours of the morning.

Dozens of cultural, sporting and recreational activities

In addition, the Festes de Sant Bartomeu 2024 in Montuïri offer a wide range of cultural, sporting and recreational activities for all ages. Highlights include the 50th edition of the Torneo de sa Llum, open-air film screenings, competitions, workshops and gymkhanas, as well as the traditional fair and market. There are also sports competitions, such as the paddle tennis tournament and the cycling race, which attract both locals and visitors. The night-time verbenas, with musical performances and mobile discotheques, are a highlight of the programme, providing fun and entertainment for all.

The efforts and dedication of local associations and entities play a crucial role in the success of these festivities. Their constant work ensures a celebration rich in tradition and variety, consolidating the Festes de Sant Bartomeu as one of the most eagerly awaited events of the year in Montuïri, according to the Consistory.
