The Tren de Sóller stops its winter service on Saturday 10 December due to refurbishment and improvement work on its facilities. It will resume service on Tuesday 7 February 2023.
During this period of reforms and improvements, the complete refurbishment of the bridge over the Torrent de Can Barbarà, the maintenance of the trees in the Parque de las Estaciones (Palma) and the improvement of the traditional stone ‘marge’ retaining walls will be carried out, in addition to improving the most deteriorated areas of the tracks, which will provide considerable progress in terms of safety and less wear and tear on the rolling stock.
During this stoppage there will also be a great deal of activity in the workshops, as the company will take the opportunity to overhaul all its locomotives and carriages, replacing the parts that are subject to greater wear and tear due to their ordinary operation.
The president of Ferrocarril de Sóller, Óscar Mayol, explained that “these are works that we always undertake in the middle of the season and in which we try to keep the track in good condition, replacing the oldest areas with new track. In addition, during these two months of stoppage we review the places where there have been the most incidents in order to rectify them for the next season”.
Óscar Mayol added that “we are also working in the workshops on all the wagons and railcars so that everything will be ready for next February”.
