The Palma City Council has unveiled its ambitious cultural programme for the 2024-2025 season at the municipal theatres, featuring 92 artistic proposals, 139 performances, and 9 premieres. The programme includes theatre, music, circus, dance, magic, and other creative disciplines, cementing Palma as a cultural hub.
Cultural programme at the municipal theatres
The season kicks off in September with a wide variety of shows catering to different audiences. First Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Culture, Javier Bonet, highlighted the “quality and diversity” of the offerings, emphasising support for local productions. Below are the key events you won’t want to miss:
Premieres and major events
- 20 and 22 September: Zweig/Bernanos at the Teatre Xesc Forteza, a play about the friendship and reflections of two intellectuals during World War II.
- 27 September: Start of the IV Cicle de Circ de Palma with performances of Llar, Forat, and Hotel Bucarest at the Teatre Xesc Forteza.
Theatre and dance in October and November
- 11, 12 and 13 October: Paloma de Parque, the second monologue by Clara Ingold, with live music at the Teatre Mar i Terra.
- 27 October: The band Elliot will present their second album, Gràvid, at the Mar i Terra.
- 15 November: Biografía de un barrio mutante, a play by Rafel Gallego about the history of the Pere Garau neighbourhood, at the Teatre Mar i Terra.
Tributes to Xesc Forteza and December Events
The 25th anniversary of Xesc Forteza’s death will be marked with various activities:
- 16 November: Dramatised reading of the unpublished play Fermat y ben fermat, at the Teatre Xesc Forteza.
- 26 to 29 December: Revival of Ca ses monges, one of Forteza’s most iconic works.
- 8 December: Christmas concert 30 Nadales by the group Capel·la at the Teatre Xesc Forteza.
Music and events from January to March
- 3 January: Concert by the Orquestra de Cambra de la Simfònica de les Illes Balears at the Teatre Mar i Terra.
- February: Premiere of the musical Broadway amb amor with the Banda Municipal de Palma and more than 50 musicians at the Xesc Forteza.
- 3 to 9 March: Paco de Lucía Festival, dedicated to the legendary flamenco guitarist.
Children’s programme
Children will also have their space in the programme, with shows such as:
- Grúmic, un somni de tardor.
- Joan sense por i la casa encantada.
- El monstre de colors.
