The correfoc of Sant Sebastià in Palma under the title ‘Correfoc de Dimonis i Bèsties’ will put the finishing touch to the Palma festivities of 2024. It is scheduled for Sunday from 19:00 until approximately 21:15. The activities of this last festive weekend will be diversified at two points: the Plaça de la Reina and the Pont de sa Riera, from Passeig Mallorca and in the direction of Avinguda Jaume III, with identical starting times.
Thus, the Plaça de la Reina will host the ‘encesa de bèsties de foc’, with four groups taking part: Drac i Guardians de Sant Jordi; Realment Cremats i s’Òliba de la Real; Es Drac de na Coca, and Ses Germanies.
The format consists of setting up a central stage on which a batucada will perform, while the pyrotechnics assembly area will be located behind the stage.
In this place, a static ‘correfoc’ will take place, alternating the performances of the ‘bèsties de foc’ and where the group of ‘dimonis’ of Ses Germanies will burn.
Itinerary of the correfoc
As for the correfoc starting at the Pont de sa Riera, the route will run from Jaume III to Plaça Rei Joan Carles I, and along the route, several platforms will be installed for the performances of the ‘dimonis’, the deposit of pyrotechnics and toys to be burned and the display of the ‘colles’.
According to the count provided by the Department of Citizen Participation, the ‘correfoc’ will have the active participation of 516 people, including ‘colles’, ‘dimonis’, ‘bèsties de foc’ and the rest of the protagonists of the festival, while the pyrotechnics used, which have been supplied by the Valencian company Focs d’Artifici Europlà, amount to 269.33 kilos.
