The Consell de Mallorca has closed the 2025 summer campaign with a significant increase in its inspection activity. The Department of Tourism has carried out 3,043 inspections across the island, 19.1% more than in 2024. The main objective has been to strengthen control of tourist accommodation and curb illegal supply, which the Consell considers to be unfair competition that harms the sector and residents.

More than 55% of the actions were focused on tackling unauthorised supply. The remaining 45% was devoted to verifying the legal offer and to specific control campaigns.
Removal of more than 4,400 irregular adverts
Thanks to agreements with platforms such as Airbnb and Holidu, the department has managed to remove more than 4,400 adverts without a registration number. This figure is equivalent to more than 20,000 places offered irregularly. It is one of the most notable advances of the campaign.
Increase in inspections of illegal supply
The tourism councillor, José Marcial Rodríguez, explained that 1,659 visits to illegal supply were carried out, three times more than in 2023. That year there was still no comparable inspection plan. The campaign has concluded with 144 infringement reports in homes with illegal rentals. This is fewer than the 245 recorded last year. The decrease is attributed to the mass removal of irregular adverts.
Other control campaigns
The Consell has also carried out parallel inspections:
-
Local product: 102 establishments were checked. Twenty per cent have already submitted documentation and the level of compliance is 100%.
-
Adjustable beds: 100 establishments were inspected. Of these, 77 have submitted the documentation, which is currently being analysed.
More sanctions and greater effectiveness
Sanctioning activity has intensified in 2025. 180 proceedings have been opened, one more than in 2024. However, the major step forward has been in resolution capacity: 221 proceedings have been closed, three times last year’s figure. The total amount of proposed fines comes to €10.05 million.
