This year, the a la fresca cinema is adapting to the new normality and changing its location in Ses Voltes, with a total of 18 films, to which we can add 10 children’s films that have already begun to be shown in different neighbourhoods of Palma.

The traditional open-air cinema in Palma will be held this year in Ses Voltes, with a provisional change of location due to its adaptation to the new normality, the established capacity control and the fulfilment of the social distancing measures. In this way, the open-air cinema programme will begin at Ses Voltes on 4th August, once the Atlantida Film Fest has finished, as usual, and will last until 13th September.

Thus, from August 4th to September 13th, 3 weekly films will be shown on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at Ses Voltes, including Sunday 13th September, the closing date of the programme. A total of 18 films will be screened in this emblematic space of Palma, in addition to 10 children’s films, which have already begun to be made in different Palma neighbourhoods. Therefore, a total of 28 screenings will be added throughout the summer to the central programme in Ses Voltes.

So, from August 4th to September 13th, 3 weekly films will be shown on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays in Ses Voltes, including Sunday September 13th, the closing date of the programme. Therefore, a total of 28 screenings will be added throughout the summer to the central programme in Ses Voltes.

So, from the 4th of August to the 15th of September, three films will be shown weekly, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Tuesday will be the day for films in Catalan, such as ‘Actrius’ by Ventura Pons, ‘Un pla perfecte’ by Michael Hoffman, or one of the most outstanding screenings in the latest edition of the Cinema de Muntaya in Palma, such as ‘La ola sin fronteras’ by Julián and Joaquín Azulay and Fernando Salem.

On Wednesdays, films will be screened in their original version for different audiences, including ‘Que guapa soy’ by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein; ‘Ultimátum a la tierra’, by Scott Derrickson; ‘Basada en hechos reales’, by Roman Polanski.

Finally, on Saturday, there will be several seasonal hits such as ‘Bajo el mismo techo’, by Juana Macías; ‘Dolor y gloria’, by Pedro Almodóvar; or ‘Yuli’, by Icíar Bollaín.

The children’s films that will be shown in different districts of Palma are as follows:

Arrietty y el mundo de los diminutos (2010, dir. Hiromasa Yonebayashi), 24 July at 22:00 at plaça dels Nins (s’Arenal).
El principito (2015, dir. Mark Osborne), 31st July at 22:00 at the parc de Sa Fertilitzadora (Son Oliva).
El viento entre las cañas (2017, dir. Arnaud Demuynck, Nicolas Liguori, Anaïs Sorrentino, Rémi Durin, Madina Iskhakova), 7th August at 21:30 at the Parc Krekovic (Nou Llevant).
La canción del mar (2014, dir. Tomm Moore), 14th August at 21:30h in the Son Roca Casal (Son Roca).
Mia y el león blanco (2018, dir. Gilles de Maistre), 21st August at 21:30h at plaça Pere Garau (Pere Garau).
Mirai, mi hermana pequeña (2018, dir. Mamoru Hosoda), 28th August at 21:30h at plaça de l’Esperança (Son Gotleu).
Wonder (2017, dir. Stephen Chbosky), 3rd September at plaça del Pes de Sa Palla (Sindicat).

Finally, it should be remembered that due to precautionary measures, seating capacity will be limited and therefore it is recommended to attend the screenings well in advance, the use of a mask will be mandatory and safety distances must be maintained. Furthermore, due to the current circumstances and health restrictions, spectators are asked to follow the organisation’s instructions at all times.
