The Govern de les Illes Balears has launched the initiative “Les illes que t’estimes més. Tu tries!” to engage citizens and entities in the review and reorientation of the economic, social, and environmental development of the archipelago. This platform for participation open to all society (https://pacteperlasostenibilitat.org/es) is framed within the Social and Political Pact for Sustainability, aiming to identify trends and challenges affecting the islands and explore multiple possible futures.

The president of the Govern, Margalida Prohens, emphasizes the importance of democratic and transparent participation, aiming to increase inclusion and geographic coverage across all islands and municipalities. “In this way, we aim to capture viewpoints on a large scale,” Prohens said. Additionally, she invites all citizens and regional stakeholders to contribute any relevant information, data, research, or knowledge to this process.

Citizen proposals, registered on the web platform, will be evaluated by multidisciplinary working groups. These groups, composed of members of the Social and Political Pact for Sustainability, will address 12 areas of reflection-action, including representatives from economic sectors, universities, local administrations, political parties, and civil society entities. They will also be supported by the expert committee, led by Dr. Antoni Riera Font, to inform decision-making, both public and private, toward a more sustainable future in the Balearic Islands.
