The forms of nature have always been an endless source of wonder and creativity. In the geometry of the organic and the rhythm of life, artists have found inspiration to build imaginary worlds and to reinvent the relationship between humanity and its environment. This primal fascination is the focus of “Art and Nature: A Century of Biomorphism”, the exhibition that can be visited at CaixaForum Palma until 15 February 2026.

Conceived by Fundación ”la Caixa” and the Centre Pompidou, the exhibition brings together more than seventy remarkable masterpieces that explore the dialogue between art, science and nature over the past hundred years. From Surrealism to contemporary movements, essential figures such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, Le Corbusier, Jean Arp, Georgia O’Keeffe, Raoul Hausmann, Max Ernst, Alexander Calder, Alvar Aalto, Alberto Giacometti and Giuseppe Penone appear alongside contemporary artists such as Neri Oxman, Jeremy Deller, John Gerrard and Trevor Yeung, who offer fresh perspectives engaged with the challenges of the present.

The exhibition is organised into four sections—Metamorphosis, Mimicry, Creation and Threat—which trace a visual and conceptual journey through artists’ fascination with organic forms, the discovery of microscopic universes, experimentation with natural materials, and an awareness of an uncertain future for the planet. Works of painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, film and design intertwine in a sensory experience that combines beauty, emotion and reflection.
