The president of the insular institution, Llorenç Galmés, has announced the payment to the town councils of the 13 million euros pending of the previous legislature, during the plenary session of the Consell de Mallorca that has been celebrated this morning

The president of the Consell, Llorenç Galmés, has announced today during the plenary of the insular institution that has already made effective the payment of the debt with the municipal corporations. The Consell had a debt of 13,048,205.71 € coming from two aid programs of the Department of Local Cooperation, and that the previous government team had left unpaid. Specifically, € 9,802,163.89 corresponded to the Municipal Competence Investment Program and € 3,246,041.82 were pending from the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan, the PAESC.

Galmés has been satisfied with the fact of having been able to settle the debt: “It was a problem inherited from the previous left-wing pact and that was stifling the economies of the municipal corporations, many of which are highly dependent on the aid of the Consell de Mallorca. We have inherited a Consell in a very bad state, the result of a disastrous management of the previous government team. We have found many unpleasant surprises inside the drawers and this was one of them. I said that we came to manage and to give solutions to the problems of the citizenship and this is what we are doing”.
