The Vilafranca de Bonany Melon Fair returns in 2022 with a programme packed with activities. From the 31st of August until the 30th of September, Vilafranca will have numerous acts and events to highlight one of the typical products of the municipality: the melon.
The weekend of 3 and 4 September will be the big days. On Saturday, the traditional Melon Festival, now in its 51st year, will be held. On Sunday, the 28th Fira del Meló 2022 takes place, with a full programme unlike last year, which suffered restrictions due to the COVID.
Melon Fair 2022 programme
The Vilafranca Melon Fair combines tradition and innovation with a common thread: the melon. Among the activities programmed by the Town Council are the Mini MelOlympics, the Melon Lovers’ Night, children’s workshops, the 4th edition of Melon Art, the Lantern Festival, the Melofoc, etc. On the night of Saturday 3rd it will be the turn of the Melon Festival Revetlá in the Plaza Mayor with free admission. A verbena that will feature performances by Géminis, Tomeu Penya and Tributo al Canto del Loco.

Melon Fair in Vilafranca
On Sunday, the Vilafranca Melon Fair will start at 9:00 am. Among the highlights of the day, the heaviest melon competition, the quality melon competition, workshops for families, etc. There will also be an exhibition of agricultural machinery, crafts and local products.
The melon exaltation will last throughout September, during which the Town Hall has prepared a full programme of activities to continue to promote this product, which is so deeply rooted in the municipality. Cultural events such as music, theatre, conferences, sport and exhibitions will share the limelight with others of a more agricultural and traditional nature.
