Summer sales 2025The summer sales 2025 in the Balearic Islands are an excellent opportunity to save on seasonal products, but also a key moment to practise conscious and responsible consumption. Although many stores focus their offers in July and August, since the sales were deregulated in 2012, discounts can be found throughout the year. Still, this season remains the most intense for consumers.

The Directorate General for Benefits, Pharmacy and Consumer Affairs of the Health Department reminds us that during sales prices go down, but not consumers’ rights.

Key advice for responsible consumption during the summer sales 2025

Buying responsibly during the summer sales 2025 is essential to avoid impulsive purchases, defective products or later conflicts. Here are the main recommendations so your shopping is safe, legal and satisfactory:

1. Plan before you buy

  • Make a list of what you really need.

  • Set a budget to avoid impulsive spending.

  • Compare prices and quality before deciding.

2. Check the original price

  • The product must clearly show the previous price and the reduced price, or the percentage discount.

  • Sale items must be differentiated from the rest.

3. Pay attention to product quality and origin

  • Discounted products must have been on sale for at least one month before in the store.

  • Products purchased expressly for the sales are not allowed.

  • The quality must be the same as before applying the discount.

4. Know the sales conditions

  • Some stores apply special conditions during sales (returns, card payments, etc.), which must be clearly indicated.

  • Always request and keep the receipt or invoice, as you will need it for complaints or returns.

5. What if there is a problem?

  • If you do not reach an agreement with the store, you can request a complaint form and file a formal complaint.

  • Remember that stores are not obliged to exchange a product in perfect condition, although many do so through a voucher or exchange for another product.

6. Online purchases

  • You have 14 calendar days to return an online purchase without needing to justify the reason.

7. Advertising and warranty

  • Keep the advertising, catalogues and instructions of the product: they are binding and you can demand compliance.

  • The after-sales service and legal warranty remain the same during sales as in any other period.
