The 8M 2026 in Palma will once again fill the city with feminist mobilisations, cultural activities and institutional events to mark International Women’s Day. The centre of the Balearic capital will host the main demonstrations called by feminist organisations, while the Palma City Council and the Government of the Balearic Islands have organised an extensive programme of activities over the coming weeks.

Conferences, workshops, exhibitions, cultural events and sporting activities are part of an agenda that runs throughout the whole month of March and aims to highlight the role of women in different areas of society.
8M 2026 demonstrations in Palma
The 8M 2026 in Palma will feature two feminist demonstrations organised by different groups within the feminist movement, both taking place in the city centre at different times.
The Moviment Feminista de Mallorca has called a march at 12:00 from Plaça d’Espanya. The demonstration will pass along carrer de Sant Miquel, plaça de Cort and carrer Conqueridor, finishing at passeig del Born. The aim of the protest is to defend rights already achieved and call for further progress in equality, social justice and the fight against gender-based violence.
In the afternoon, the demonstration organised by the Coordinadora Transfeminista de Mallorca will also depart from Plaça d’Espanya at 18:00 under the slogan “Ho tornarem a fer, més feministes que mai”. The route will run along carrer de Sant Miquel, plaça Major and carrer Colom until reaching plaça de Cort, where the manifesto will be read.
Activities organised by the Balearic Government for 8M
The Government of the Balearic Islands, through IBDONA, has organised several initiatives for the 8M 2026 in Palma aimed at highlighting the role of women in the field of physical activity and sport. Among the main activities is the professional conference “Women, physical activity and sport”, which will take place on 6 March, as well as the presentation of the book La nadadora, inspired by the career of Balearic athlete Tita Llorens, at Can Sales Library.
The programme also includes a round table entitled “Women in male-dominated sports”, the photography competition “Woman and Sport”, the screening of the documentary “Training in Equality” and several symbolic actions such as the purple illumination of sports facilities, including the Son Moix Stadium. The Government’s institutional campaign this year is presented under the slogan “Equality is the key match. We continue opening the way”, featuring Balearic athletes Cata Coll and Alba Torrens.
Activities organised by Palma City Council for 8M
