CCOO and UGT unions and the employer’s association Asociación de Empresas de Servicios para la Dependencia (Aeste) have agreed on a 41.25% salary increase over four years for workers in private care homes and day care centers in the Balearic Islands, after a collective negotiation in which the Balearic government also participated

Unions and associations have described the agreement as “historic” because the salary increase combined with other improvements in relation to workload and working hours will improve the quality of life for workers and users. According to them, a geriatric professional’s salary will increase from around 1,000 euros to 1,500 euros per month over four years, 1,300 euros this year 2023. It will also help reduce the wage gap in a highly feminized sector.
